Like many top French chefs, Philippe started cooking as a child under the watchful eyes of his mother and grandmother. At the age of 15 years old he spent a remarkable summer season under a famous Chef who recommended him to the 3* star Michelin Restaurant Lasserre in Paris where he trained as a chef.
From there Philippe went on to work at the famous Rothschild 5* Hotel Du Mont d’Arbois in Mégève and then in Paris under the legendary Michelin Star Parisien chef Joel Robuchon. He continued to develop his skills at establishments around the world, including the Michelin Star Chewton Glen in the New Forest.
Later Philippe was appointed as Executive Chef to the Saudi Royal Family serving HRH Prince Khalid Abdullah, the well-known racehorse owner and Philippe personally catered for him and his guests worldwide.
Philippe branched out and set up his own business, delivering gourmet French food hampers via the Internet. This developed into a luxury delicatessen and gift shop in the upmarket town of Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and, ultimately into a chain of cafés and gift shops in Henley and London.
Frustrated with the lack of quality bread that was available, Philippe went on to establish an artisan French bakery which supplied bread and patisseries to his cafés and to numerous renowned businesses and chefs across the London area, including Heston Blumenthal at the Fat Duck, Riverside Brasserie, the Hindhead in Bray, Anthony Worral Thompson and many more. The ultimate accolade came when Philippe was awarded the opportunity to open the in-store bakery in the prestigious Harvey Nichols Food Hall in Knightsbridge. However, shortly after this opened, Philippe decided to return to his first passion and established Le Parisien restaurant in Henley on Thames and also opened a luxury B&B at the home he shared with his wife, Brona, in the quaint village of Lower Shiplake just outside Henley. The restaurant was awarded 2* Rosettes in the AA restaurant Guide, Recommended in the Michelin Guide, and the B&B was awarded 5*Star in the AA Best UK B&B Guide.

If you have a passion for food and want to learn from our expert Chef, we have a very simple approach to cookery. We use the very best seasonal produce and cook food that you could replicate for special occasions or even adapt as daily recipes to prepare at home. Philippe’s cookery courses cater for all levels of cooking ability and you will leave with confidence and enthusiasm, eager to return to your own kitchen to experiment!
Philippe only provides individual cookery lessons.
1) Lecon de Cuisine Particuliere – Personally Tailored Classes
Available for one or two people in your own private home or here in our own professional kitchen, these intimate lessons are tailored to the requirements of the individual, including learning to prepare a specific dish. This bespoke course is created to enhance your cooking skills and help you gain confidence in the kitchen: from basic knife skills to the preparation and cooking of food with professional cooking tips from Philippe. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a practical and supportive learning environment.
The course is priced at €250 per person (max 2 pers), includes a two courses lunch, refreshements and runs from 10.30 – 3.30 pm

Help yourself from a buffet laden with a selection of fresh squeezed juices, quality cereals, yogurts, nuts, fresh fruit, breads, conserves and mouth- wateringly indulgent freshly baked French viennoiseries (croissants, pain au chocolat and pain aux raisins) or indulge in freshly cooked dishes from our menu, made with the very best and locally sourced produce.
During the week our residents with prior arrangement, can enjoy a delicious set 4 course menu cooked by Philippe and served in our elegant dining room. Crisp white linen tablecloths, sparkling glassware and shining cutlery will complement the delectable delicacies and sublime sauces he is renowned for. The menu will reflect the best of fresh produce available from top quality local suppliers Philippe has sought out since moving to Ireland.
Enjoy a drink before dinner in our drawing room and relax there after dinner with a coffee and nightcap before ambling back to your room to sink into the 6’ of luxury mattress… bliss!
